Project |01 Rapid Prototyping

For this project, I was the leader of a team of IE students for class IE152 in which we were to work with students in the graphic design department to develop their re-imagined, environmentally designed packaging for an existing product.  We were given a dimensioned drawing and our assignment was to take that drawing and translate it into SolidWorks to create a 3 dimensional model in SolidWorks, to be printed with NMSU's rapid prototyping machine.

Our "clients" wanted to take the idea of a McCormick spice pack, get rid of all the non-recycble packaging and make room for more spices and have a reusable object left over.  The project is called Infuse and the oject is "The Infuser".

Project |03 PACE

I am also on another PACE  project with the same goals in mind, but a different team.  These team members consist of students in the mechanical and industrial design and engineering fields from Brazil, Mexico and China.  As you can see from the pictures, the outcome of their research makes a completley different design.  My school is in charge of the manufacuring part of the competiton wich includes a non-functional physical scale model, manufacturing analysis of the vehicle, project business plan, and recyclability plan.

Just a sample of my work. To see more or discuss possible work >>

Project |02 PACE

I am currenctly on a project for the Partners for the Advancement of Collaborative Engineering Education, or PACE competition.  As the name states, it is a competition which promotes the collaborative nature that is engineering with students in engineering programs from around the world.  The team I am on is collaborating with engineering students from the University of Texas in El Paso, and students from Mexico.  The subject of this two year competition is to research, design, and create a Portable Assisted Mobility Device, or PAMD.  The device is to help our target market to become more mobile with a devise that is compact in size, hs a power source to be able to run on its own and be environmentally friendly.
